Goodness how the time flies! Last I wrote was March and whoosh! it is now almost October. I promise to do better at the whole blogging thing as life begins to slow down from the whirlwind it has been. I'll have projects and pictures to show you soon! Promise!!! Now where did I leave my camera??

It's Almost Christmas!

Why is it that December never seems long enough? Plans are made for gift giving and partying and decorating and WHAM! it is 4 days before Christmas and you just don't know what happened to the month! (whew, I'm tired just thinking about it!)

I've been working on gifts for family and friends for more than a month. Does it look like it? NO! Will I be done in time? If I don't SLEEP! Why do I do this to myself? Heaven knows! It is my attempt to create a memorable, personal gift without going into debt. I LOVE Christmas and LOVE giving gifts. But, budgeting is crucial to maximize gift giving opportunities so I do my part to contribute - hey, it's what I do! I've been queen of the 1 sock lately. I was working on a sock for me (started at Rhinebeck) and needed my needles for my hubby's socks. So, I had to finish my first sock. Hubby's sock is about 1/2 way done. Darling daughter's socks are being done on size 1 DPN so I can work on his and hers during the same time period. At the moment, we have 1 sock for me...1 sock for daughter...and almost 1 sock for hubby. Hmmm...does anyone else see Second Sock Syndrome here?? Really, no, just Christmas Crunch Syndrome. The theory is that if I can get at least 1 sock done for each of them, I can wrap it up with the 2nd ball of sock yarn with the promise of the 2nd sock before winter is over. Oh my!

Other than the socks I've been working on other gifts, but pics will come after Christmas...there are eyes everywhere and they tell what they see!!

We also have Christmas babies!!! Our dear little Jersey Wooly "Shaela" delivered 3 healthy little squiggles on Sunday night. This is her first litter and our first time successfully breeding!! We are just too proud!

Fall. The time of year that makes you think of warm blankets, sweaters, socks, and all the beautiful colors this season brings. I am not normally into autumn colors, but this year I can't seem to get enough. I've been taking pictures of all the beautiful trees and buying yarns and rovings of those same colors. Weird. I'd love to post some pictures, but it seems my little jersey wooly "Pepper" chewed threw the chord one day while happily hopping around the living room. Grr. Now I must get a new one. Life is never dull!

I've been blog surfing for months and am totally addicted! So many people talked about Rhinebeck and I was there too. My first time. What a great festival! I am looking forward to next year. Have even started a fund just for it. I went with 3 friends and we laughed and laughed and had so much fun. Good times and good memories with good friends. What life is all about!

Heat Wave

My goodness! I am glad to be back online! My computer has been on the major fritz for a long time and after much effort and headaches, we are back online!! WOO HOO! This has been a very hot summer and this week is no different. Record temps this week! Those who know me know that I LOVE summer, but when temps start climbing up and over the 100 degree mark, that's just too hot!

I've been doing lots of spinning and knitting over the past few months. Made my first pair of socks - I am proud of myself! If you would have asked me a year ago if I would have ever knitted socks, I would have laughed at you. I am now on my second pair - for my hubby, of course! :)

There are new things happening all the time around here. I have been doing spinning demonstrations around the area and have recently entered several skeins into a competition at the Lebanon County Fair. Much to my surprise I received several 1st and 2nd place ribbons. We are in the process of taking pictures of them all so they will be posted as soon as possible.

I have been aquiring fleeces lately. It has been fun getting back to the basics of spinning - hand washing/hand carding - from grease to skein and then onto project. My next project will be dyeing techniques. What fun!!!

Bunnies and Twisters

My how time flies! I hadn't even realized how long it has been since my last post until I pulled it up this morning. Bad blogger!! I'll try to fill in the gaps here and promise to do better!

First I want to say that my heart goes out to all the people whose lives have been devastated by the recent outbreak of twisters! My husband and I have been glued to the Weather Channel all week just watching and praying for all those in the areas affected by the storm systems.

We got a new bunny. His name is Malachi and he is a baby English Angora. He is 3 months old and is the cutest! He is adjusting very well and getting completely spoiled. My husband is especially thrilled because now there is another male in the house. All of the other animals we have (dogs, cats, and rabbits) are all girls. He is almost beaming with pride! ;)

My good friend, Ellen, came over this afternoon and clipped our French Angora.

Poor Willow doesn't know what to think of this!! And now we have a naked bunny!!! She does NOT look happy.

WIP Wipe Out

Wednesday is update date for the WIP Wipe Out on the "One Crazy Fiber Lady" blog. (See links on left) I wanted to have pics up on the blog but didn't get it done. So today is picture day.
But first, I must post the skein I just finished. The roving is a beautiful cotton candy pink Shetland wool and it spun up so nice! I've only been spinning about a year and a half, so all I can say is "WOW!"

OK, now to the WIP. I finished my first sock (for my daughter). Its not perfect, but wearable. She really likes the colors. Working on the 2nd sock now. These socks are knitted on double pointed needles. My friend Judy always makes socks on circular needles, so she is going to teach a few of us how that works. My other WIP project is fingerless gloves. No pic tho. My camera went funky as I was trying to take a picture of the progress.

Isn't Winter Over Yet?!

The weather sure has been crazy around here. The other day it was in the 70's and now we're back to blustery weather. Snow is even in the forecast. Why do I live in Pennslvania?! Well, at least this gave me time at home in the warm to get some pictures ready to post.

Here is some beautiful Ashland Bay roving that I spun and made handwarmers for me. My hands are always cold so this way my hands stay toasty and I can still do things with my hands. They are SO soft! I'm pretty proud of them.

I joined a WIP Wipeout to help motivate me to finish the projects. I'm starting with a sock project. Finished the first sock for my daughter, now I gotta work on the 2nd one. There are too many projects I want to work on, but just can't start another without finishing what I have. I'll post pictures of the works in progress tomorrow.

Time For An Update

Well, I thought it was about time for an update. I finally got the digital camera to work so I'm feverishly taking pictures to post. (hopefully within the next day or two) The most exciting news of the hour is my that my friend Donna and I are starting a spinning guild "Hook, Needle, and Spin", in the local Harrisburg area. I love, no I mean LOVE to spin and get together with other spinners so I travel to where they are!! I currently am involved in several spinning groups and travel a distance to attend each. There is a need for a group in the local area for those who don't want to travel, so we're hoping for a good response.

My hubby and I think our french angora doe is FINALLY pregnant! This is the 3rd try so we are keeping our fingers crossed. : ) We registered our rabbitry with the ARBA, so now we can print business cards with "Hop-ee Valley Rabbitry" and promote ourselves. Oh boy! Here we go!

My hubby and I have been blessed to make many friends along the road of critters and creations. Spinning, knitting, and crocheting are my absolute passion and I loose countless hours of sleep working on projects.
